Tips For A Successful Anita’s Bake Club Chapter | Anitas Organic Mill

You’ve officially started your Anita’s Bake Club Chapter, so now what? Well, first of all, we’re very excited for you. We love baking, and understand the pleasure of sharing your bakes with friends or loved ones.

The great thing about Anita’s Bake Club is you have complete flexibility to make it your own. You can host regular get-togethers, or more casual gatherings. We’re here to cheer you on, offer tips and advice, fun ideas, some sweet perks and, of course, lots of delicious recipes. So, before you put your first event on the calendar, let’s go over some tips to help you get started and make your Chapter a successful and fun experience for your group.

The Nitty Gritty:

Size: Cap the number of members in your Chapter at the number you can reasonably host wherever you plan to gather. Also, keep in mind that you may have one or two absentees each time.

Dates & times: Some may prefer consistency—such as the first Sunday of each month at a specific time— while other groups might like a bit more flexibility. Discuss the availability of your group members and see what works best. If regularity is preferred, you can arrange to meet the same time each month. If flexibility is preferred, aim for a time frame, such as every 4-6 weeks, and then poll everyone’s availability at least a week beforehand to choose a time. Send reminders via text or email as needed or agreed upon in your group.

Location: You can choose to meet at the same host’s house every time, or maybe rotate through different members of the group. Just keep kitchen size and group size in mind when determining your location.

Responsibilities: The variety of equipment, tools, supplies and ingredients required can vary widely, depending on what you decide to bake. When you choose a recipe, make sure you also divvy up the responsibilities of who will bring what ingredients or baking tools as needed.

Commitment: Success and longevity comes from commitment, so ideally the members of your Chapter are as excited about it as you are. If you notice attendance slipping over time, open the floor to ideas and suggestions. Maybe certain members want to bake more specific things or want a bit more variety to really enjoy the experience. Your Anita’s Bake Club Chapter is a great place to hone your baking skills, but first and foremost it’s about building community and having fun in the kitchen.

Some Fun Extras

Themes: Adding a theme to your meet-up can make the experience more special. It might be seasonal, a focus that opens up opportunities to learn new baking techniques, or even just something completely silly. It’s totally up to your group, but if you need a little inspiration, you’ll find some theme ideas to get you started here.

Food & drink: Aside from the baking you do, you might want some snacks to munch on while you wait for everything to bake, or even just while you’re chatting away with your Chapter members. Think finger foods and maybe a glass of wine or some fancy mocktails.

Music: We recommend turning on some music while you bake. There are lots of fun baking playlists online. Or you could get a bit more serious and turn on some mood music to match your baking style… a little French bread, a little Edith Piaf perhaps?

Attire: The obvious choice is to make sure your group wears clothes they don’t mind getting floured, but you may also want to consider investing in some aprons. Fancy, funny or even a DIY apron would do the job. Plus, you’ll all look great in your pictures! Which leads us to…

Photos: Take lots! We love seeing Anita’s Bake Club Chapters in action—it makes us feel like we’re right there with you. Take pictures of your group and of the yummy things you decide to make. Then tag us @anitasorganic on Instagram, or share your photos with us in the Anita’s Bake Club Facebook group.

However you decide to organize and run your Chapter, the most important thing to remember is to have fun. Our inspiration for Anita’s Bake Club Chapters was the idea of people coming together to bake something. Once you manage that, your Chapter will be a homemade success!
